Physical Attack Followed by Verbal Abuse in NJ

I know of a woman in NJ who despite limited resources will help any animal that she sees in need of help. Despite her Great Heartedness people in her building have attacked her and actually sent her to the hospital a few times. The police have been of no help to her, in fact, they have enabled her abusers by treating her as if she is a demented, homeless person with no rights. This is a very intelligent woman, I believe more intelligent than the abusers who have gotten away with assaulting her.

Whenever this woman tries to defend herself, the law steps on her too and enables her abusers. The people who attack her sneer at her and have no fear of the law, why should they, the law will only act as if this woman "had it coming to her." This is the kind of treatment that bruises the soul and would cause anyone else to give up on what they believe in.

Lately, someone wrote a letter that is typical of exaggerated events to slander my friend. They claimed she throws food around on the streets to feed the animals. This is a woman who knows that Cleanliness is next to Godliness and would not do such a thing. This type of slander exposes the darkness of the soul that the woman writing it has and it is a bit scarey to see that my friend must defend herself from this type of person. To them the end justifies the means, they will say anything and do anything with a total lack of humanity in order to crucify this person who doesn't ignore the helpless animals.

My friend has done a lot of good for animals who are helpless and dying in the streets of NJ. I don't think she deserves this type of treatment. This is treatment that many people who feed and care for throwaway and TNR colonies endure. I pray that the light of wisdom and Love will eventually eradicate this problem. It is still a long haul before that happens, in the meantime we must do as my friend does: One animal at a time, one day at a time and extend that sense of humanity to the people around us as well.
